 New Speed Reading Course Offered at Buckeye Valley High School
"This year a new Speed Reading course has been offered at Buckeye Valley High School. This course is designed to help students improve their reading speed and comprehension skills. It is an individually paced program involving classroom instruction in speedreading techniques along with a review of study skills needed for high school and college level work. This semester class is offered to all grade levels at the high school and is graded pass/fail.
Teaching this class has been a very enjoyable experience. Since it is an individual paced class the students follow their own progress in increasing their reading speed and comprehension. I particularly like the text, Power Reading, that was selected to use with this course, since it emphasizes different approaches to diverse reading material along with the importance of comprehension."

"Most of the really important stuff we learn, we learn through reading.
When I got to the Power Reading website I almost filtered it out because it came close to the 'Too good to be true' filter. But I read the testimonials and the thought process behind the methods used and decided to give it a try. I can honestly say my filter process has never worked better. Some of the other course samples I tried actually had me reading faster right away, but the comprehension, ability to focus and retention levels seemed to drop in proportion to the speed increase.
